Striving for early intervention
Early oral motor therapy intervention is important for obtaining maximal long-term health benefits. Given a sufficient length of time, small amounts of abnormal pressure from the tongue and lips can alter development of facial and oral structures. This is especially relevant during the years of rapid motor learning and skeletal growth occurring during infancy and childhood years. Sommers Physical Therapy works with children as young as 3 years old and offers consultation services to parents of children age 1 month to 2 years.
Benefits for teenagers and adults
Teenagers and adults can also improve sleep quality, muscle tone, and nasal breathing with oral motor therapy. It is never too late to intervene to maximize your health moving forward!
